Scaffolding, Refractory & Mechanical Support at a Georgia OSB Mill
Elite Industrial was engaged to provide scaffolding, refractory, and mechanical support for a major project at a large OSB manufacturing facility in Georgia.
The project involved several stages of work, including scaffolding construction, demolition of existing refractory, and the removal and replacement of approximately 1,600 square feet of roof metal. The team also installed approximately 100,000 pounds of new refractory material.
With multiple activities requiring coordination, the project needed to be completed safely and within a defined schedule to support the plant’s return to operations.
Led by Project Manager Bobby Cason III, with Jimmie Grimes as a key contributor, Elite Industrial worked alongside Elite Refractory and Southern Welding to deliver the project.
The team completed the work 12 hours ahead of schedule, allowing the plant to resume operations 12 hours earlier than planned.
Scope of Work
Industrial Scaffolding
Construction of scaffolding to provide access to the work areas and support the demolition, roof replacement, and refractory installation activities.
Refractory Demolition
Removal of the existing refractory materials to prepare the affected areas for the new installation.
Roof Metal Replacement
Removal of approximately 1,600 square feet of existing roof metal, followed by the installation of new metal to replace the affected sections.
Refractory Installation
Installation of approximately 100,000 pounds of refractory material as part of the project scope.
Mechanical Support
Mechanical support throughout the project to assist with the different phases of work and keep activities progressing.
Execution & Project Coordination
The project required several specialized activities to be completed within a defined timeframe.
Work began with the construction of scaffolding and demolition of the existing refractory. Once the demolition was underway, the team moved into the roof replacement phase, cutting out approximately 1,600 square feet of existing metal and installing new metal.
The project also involved the installation of approximately 100,000 pounds of refractory material, requiring coordination across the different work activities.
Through effective coordination and a focus on safe execution, the team maintained progress throughout the project and completed the work ahead of the scheduled deadline.
Before & After
Safety Without Compromise
Safety remained a priority throughout the project.
With scaffolding, demolition, roof metal replacement, and refractory installation all involved, maintaining safe working conditions was essential.
The project was completed incident-free, demonstrating the team’s ability to deliver specialized industrial work while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
What Made This Project Exceptional
